The Toshiba Satellite Radius E45W-C4200X is a 2-in-1 laptop PC with a 14-inch display and a fully foldable design. It allows the notebook to convert to a tablet, multimedia stand or tent, or table-top device.

At an affordable price of below $500, the E45W-C4200X offers mid-range components packed in a slim brushed-aluminum chassis, with gray keyboard deck and black lid. The laptop is powered by the Intel Core i3-5015U processor with the Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics. The i3-5015U has been released just recently and is very similar to the more widely adopted i3-5010U. Both are dual-core chips with core clock speed of 2.1GHz. The 5015U has only a bit higher maximal graphics clock speed of 900MHz versus 850MHz, which is a minor change and doesn’t affect computing nor gaming performance much. The laptop has 6GB of RAM which is enough for most computing scenarios and a usual 500GB hard drive. A DVD burner drive is missing.

The multi-touch display has a usual resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels and lacks IPS for wide viewing angles. The keyboard doesn’t feature backlight nor a dedicated numeric pad. It is accompanied by a large touchpad.

Toshiba’s Satellite Radius E45W-C4200X has Harman/Kardon-branded stereo speakers, a 720p webcam, 802.11AC Wi-Fi wireless, Bluetooth interface, HDMI video output port, WiDi for wireless connection to external displays, two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port, a multi-format media card reader, and a mic/headphone audio jack.

The included 45 Whr battery isn’t insanely capacious, but Toshiba optimistically claims the battery life can last up to 8.12 hours on this model.

The E45W-C4200X ships with the latest Windows 10 operating system pre-installed, so no OS upgrades are required after you buy the laptop.

The E45W is a smaller brother of the P55W with a standard-size 15.6″ display. Unfortunately, the 14-incher isn’t lighter than the 15.6″ model, since both weigh 5 pounds. Of course, the E45W has a smaller footprint, but chassis thickness of 0.8″ is the same. Also, the pricier P55W has better internal components and sports 1920×1080 IPS display instead of 1366×768 non-IPS.
